I imagine waking up and going downstairs...turning on the light and opening the door....putting on some music and starting the work day....Making jewelry and accessories behind the counter and placing them out as they are done....bliss...sheer unadulterated BLISS...This store/apartment has been an obession of mine for such a long time...and even more so recently when my friend Micol and I have been talking of opening a collective...a pipe dream??? Maybe...but stranger things have happened....it's so beyond perfect i can sometimes hardly stand to look at it....it's like an eclipse...and eclipse of amazingness
The "backhouse' is the perfect place for an amazing speakeasy...a place to have a drink and socialize while watching a show....a little striptease...a little burlesque....some obscure electronic band just starting out.... A secret word or a secret knock.....Something sinister and divine...and drinks like ambrosia from heaven.....and to live and work in the same place...could u imagine????? Like Charlie and the Chocolate factory...but with more antiques...and cooler clothes...and better music....but you get the picture.....
The patina is PERFECT as as far as I'm concerned could be left AS IS....even the American Flag gives a heady air of nostalgia.....imagine a window display amongst the peeling paint and broken shades...Some vintage dress forms and a few well placed pin lights and we will be SET....and the name...something simple and clever painted Old Tymey on the glass....or from a hanging sign outside that will squeak in the wind....and maybe a store pet too...a cute little dog to "stand gurad" { ie:lick people}
a handful of talented people able to sell their work...with an in house work space...imagine a mini art gallery showcasing local artists....in store book signings....a place for friends and people we believe in to sell/showcase their work...a safe place to create.....somewhere amazing...like a dream.....
someday.....maybe
XOXO
I walked by there the other day, and there were a handful of people milling about... you could say they looked "landlord-y". I think its for sale, and it was an open house day, they were probably just waiting for the realtor... *sigh* whoever buys it is probably just going to "fix it up" and ruin its charm....
