So I have taken a few classes at the Morbid Anantomy Library at the Gowanus Reading Room {Mouse taxidermy, Victorian Hair art}...so i was so excited for this....a bat articulation class complete with environment and Glass Dome!!!!!
Curated by Laetitia Barbier and Wilder Duncan It was a chance to create a one of a kind curio to display in ones home much like the Victorians before us....to insight curiosity and wonder...even within ones home....
We were provided with one bat skelton and a glass dome and various times to create an "environment" with...
First we dis-articulated the bat as to pose it more naturally and to our own whims....
Then we created the environment...i used branches and leaves to create a canopy...I also brought some cicada skins and a snail shell and petrified hornets nest to add to the natural authenticity of it all
I then added my re-articulated bat and posed it to fit within the dome...much gluing together of fingers and dropping and almost losing of TINY TINY bones ensued...as well as much hilarity....
Et VIOLĂ!!! One twice articulated bat in a "natural" environment under a glass dome!!!! Now i have a self created beauty to add to my Wunderkammer !!!! I had a great time and am pretty proud of my work considering this is my first {yet surely not LAST} time doing this!!!!!

In a world filled with forgettable cakes and boring artisanal chocolates someone is finally injecting some life {so to speak} into the genre... Annabel de Vetten-Peterson also known as Annabel Lecter {LOVE!!!} runs a bakery called "Conjurer's Kitchen" where she creates magical chocolate oddities and cakes fit for a turn of the century Cabinet of Curiosities..... or a serial killers refridgerator perhaps....
Someone had sent me a link to this cake below and i was quite impressed with the use off skulls on a wedding cake...imagine my delight when i realized the skulls were edible AND chocolate!!!! Not just creepy for the sake of being creepy......but truly magical and stunningly realistic.....from for to color to scale...these morbid morsels are as scientifically accurate as they are sublimely delicious!!!!!
Then on a recent trip to Obscura a realized that they were selling her wares there including this custom made AND hand painted chocolate skull pictured below!!!! Almost a shame to eat such a beautiful and detailed work of art.... The painting and font recall Memento Mori skulls and once again the detail was just stunning...THIS is the work of a true and dedicated artisan!!!!
Macabre and Chiling...Morbid and delicious.....Annabel's deft hands create babies heads...sinewy muscle.... severed limbs...conjoined skulls... and many other dark delights from delicious cakes and Chocolates!!!! Not everything she does is so Macabre...but everything is pretty ingenious...from a full Christmas dinner made from cake to a cake that looks made from cold cuts!!!!

Mary O'Malley creates dinner wear that Captain Nemo would obliged to use.....looking like something found in an abandoned ship left hundreds of years beneath the dark sea....he work is simply encrusted with barnacles coral and tentacles worthy of Chuthulu Himself!!! She also makes custom Urns for ashes that are both somehow touching and humorous {?}..... They are beautiful and delicate and i covet every single one of them!!!!

Sooo not only did i FINALLY update my ETSY after like 2 years!!!! but i also have use of my computer again so the blog posts will begin anew!!!!
Not that my computer was gone or anything just had some problems {still does} but My friend Barrett help alleviate some of them so at least i can somewhat function again!!!!

So sometime in the Spring/Summer I went to see a show called "BLUNDERLAND" put on by my friend Eric Schmalenberger...I made him an outfit for the event and know the typos of soirees he threw wanted to see what was going on....there was the usual faire of amazing burlesque and aerialists...then someone stumbled through the crowd onto the stage...a bottle breaks...and a wolf man in tattered clothing appears...Me and my friends Candice and Gooby were like "What the fuck?!?!?" then soon he began to sing...it was "Only You" by Yaz and let me tell you....There was not a dry eye in the house...then...he was gone and we were MYSTIFIED!!! We were calling him "Teen Wolf" until we figured out who he was....
Rob Roth wears so may hats....an actor, director and entertainer...a singer and one of the creators of legendary CLICK AND DRAG {which i was lucky enough to go to way back when}....He is also the creator of "Craig"...the wolf i mentioned above.....
a lonely beautiful soul with a lovely singing voice that truly broke my heart....
Hopefully...if we are lucky he will perform again and i tell you...don't miss it!!! It is true art and sublime entertainment.....I was certainly and deeply touched!!!!
These photos were from a series he did with photographer Matthu Placek one day all over NYC for 14 hours...the photos are as touching and mysterious as 'Craig" and feature some NYC underground luminaries like Ms Debbie Harry and Jack Doroshow "Flawless Sabrina"...These were also feature in Outthere magazine!!!
