"He's got a touch of LAVENDER..."

Marc Almond had always been a favourite of mine..not only because of his songwriting and voice but because of his candidness about his sexuality...He was fey and campy and owned his sexuality from the very beginning....Trapsing through the streets of SoHo {UK}...and througout the NY underbelly...{when there WAS one}.... he was St Almond of the Trash-heap....

And this being Gay Pride month I wanted to give you one of his latest offerings...off of his most recent and somewhat most personal album "Variete'" I present "Lavander"...a rememberance of a time gone by when it wasn't so safe to come out...a time which sadly some are STILL living in.....

I don't know if I will ever live to see a world where Gays have equality...but I'm glad it's gotten better....Keep fighting...and keep being yourself...no matter WHAT!!!

Adevntures in Fleamarketeering : Counting backwards

....So I have been remiss in adding in my flea market hunting lately...oh i've been GOING...I just have been very focused and not able to post as ofen as I would like....I have been trying to gather materials to make things for various events i have coming up VERY SOON...So here...now...finally...are some of my flea maket finds form my past few trips!!!!!!

i use a basket to collect things usuallyat certain vendors...they guy gave me this one 'free with purchase"...score

Yet another Japanese Shoe designer that i would commit Hari-Kari to own a pair of shoes from.....not ONLY are there amazing platforms, which we all know i LIVE for....BUT everything is adorned with things i LOVE...antlers...feathers...HAIR......i mean...I was gasping my way through his website....Shoes that resemble rams and deer...peacocks and swans...and even amazing leather bags shaped like various animal skulls!!!!!

And most shoes are ankle twistingly placed on the most ornate carved heels i've ever seen....either that or sharply angled hooves...which we ALL KNOW i just die for......yet another reason to go to Japan.....and maybe start binding my feet so I can fit into a pair of these!!!!! Just picture me...clomping down the street like a majestic Kleidsdale.....someday...{le sigh}

I just LOVE Anna Varney...shes such a beautiful enigma that i kind of never want to figure out...because really...even though her image is ENTRANCING...It's all about her VOICE..and here for your viewing pleasure is the new Sopor Aeternus single "Safe to Sleep Alone"..Please enjoy...

Come into my Parlour......

When i was young I drempt of being a spider...of spinning webs and living in one high above in the trees...or underground....spinning and weaving a silken world to live in...to hide in......

With that in mind I was blown away when i saw the work of design collective numen/in use...In this particular installation they used over 150 rolls of clear packing tape to create a web/coccoon that could host a performance!!!!! Stretching between columns of a former stock exchange they not only transformend a simple material...but also a whole enviornment......

 

this is the kind of art I LOVE...its innovative and inspiring...truly GOBSMAKING...and best of all it makes me feel like a kid again...I just want to crawl inside with some comic books and a radio and hide from the world for awhile!!!!!
