Wayne Martin Belger  creates breathtakingly intricate pinhole cameras out of unconventional onjects...and no only that but the cameras themselves relect the picure that he intend on taking ...a camera containing HIV infected blood is or photographing people who have this disease inside them.....the heart era focuses throug an actual heart ad takes images of women who are at least 8 months pregnant....SO as much though goes into the building and constructing of these magikal works of a as the ubjects they will eventually capture...and thus the OBJECT in this case a camera becomes as muh a part of the arts the SUBJECT.....Aluminum, Titanium, Copper, Brass, Bronze, Steel, Silver, Gold, Wood, Acrylic, Glass, Horn, Ivory, Bone, Human Bone, Human Skulls, Human Organs, Formaldehyde, HIV+ Blood these are all elements Mr Belger usues to create his own brand of visual magiks!!!!! OBSESSED: Medical Devices/Prosthetics

I've always had a fascination for things of the medical variety...not a FETISH really because that somehow diminishes it...{or rather makes it more important}.....I especially LOVE vinatge medical devices...specifically restraints...neck braces...corests...leg braces...prostetic limbs....eye patches....Things that help to shape or reshape the body...things that inhibit movement.....I love the crasftsmanship of the old pieces...the leatherwork....the grommetts..the intericate metal structures.....such care was taken to make these things not only well made and durable but yes ,sometimes even BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! And  naturally theres something erotic about it all as well for me at least.......but not meerly that.....but its definately a part of it.....{wink}

I have a small but signifigant collection and it's slowly growing...things are NOT cheap and hard to come by....but i find things here and there.....So please share for awhile in my fascination.....and look beyond the object and see its inherent beauty....

I was cleaning my car out today and found a copy of "Vogue Italia" with this amazing Tim Walker shoot in it...he's just always on point.......SO inspiring....every shot is like a dream......

Hunt for High Tech: Bart Hess

...Metallic scales that resemble fur...A dress made of dripping slime and one of pink bubbles....a nylon bodysuit stuffed with balloons bulging and heaving like so many boils..a man covered in toothpicks who resebles a yeti.....the body reshaped...and redefined....new appenages are added asnd some are taken away as well....somehow both erotic and hysterical...strange and magical....the work of  Bart Hess is amazingly transformative...either through hi-tech fabrics...or just some paper and glue... Using these techniques as well as video and animation he redefines the body and gives us pause to think...he also often collaborates with fellow artist Lucy Mcrae to create these amazing creatures....Needless to say I am enamoured!!!!! questions about beauty and gender arise....and sometimes just sheer awe...whatever the reaction ,his work is amazing and beautiful in it's complex simplicity......and am I the only one who finds some of these images erotic?!?!?!
